Omfattande erfarenhet av kärnkraftsprojekt

We deliver piping systems and mechanical installations for nuclear power plants, meeting the highest possible safety requirements. Nuclear projects can include engineering, material procurement, prefabrication, and supervision.

Recion has extensive experience from numerous projects within the nuclear power industry, including the Loviisa and Olkiluoto plants in Finland and the Oskarshamn, Ringhals, and Forsmark plants in Sweden. Our engineers and site workers are highly skilled in demanding shutdown operations.

Short outage periods in nuclear power plants require precise planning and detailed scheduling for every task, including inspections, supervision, radiation safety, and logistics.

Certified Piping Systems for Nuclear Power Plants

Our welding and forming procedures meet the highest safety class according to the radiation and nuclear safety guidelines (YVL) issued by STUK, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland. With our remotely operated orbital welding robot, we can perform high-quality welds even in highly radioactive environments. We also utilize our own orbital welding equipment for other demanding welding projects.

Largest Contractor in the PULS Upgrade Project

In the PULS project (Power Up-rate with Licensed Safety), the capacity of Unit 3 at the Swedish Oskarshamn nuclear power plant—originally commissioned in 1985—was increased by 250 MW. The upgrade improved plant safety and extended its technical lifetime to 60 years.

This highly demanding power upgrade project took place in spring 2009. We participated as the largest contractor in a workforce of 220 engineers, supervisors, electricians, pipefitters, and welders—150 from Finland and around 70 from Sweden. Our scope of work included detailed engineering, material procurement, and installation. We also installed all equipment for the new turbine and generator, while dismantling the existing piping and equipment. Every step was carefully documented. A major challenge was the very tight project schedule. Thanks to thorough pre-planning and skilled professionals, the project was successfully completed within the 90-day timeframe.

Recion has been involved in the construction and modernization of all currently active nuclear power plants in Finland and Sweden, as well as ongoing annual maintenance and other projects related to piping, mechanical equipment, and automation.
